DartConnect
  • Make sure you can sign into the app at http://app.dartconnect.com. Use the exact email address with which you registered this season or inform the Competition Secretary (compsec@seattledarts.com) right away if you need your registration updated to align with your existing DartConnect account's email address. If you have not registered with DartConnect, sign up for a free account at http://members.dartconnect.com.
  • Update the app to the latest version. It is recommended that you do this each time you log in. Use the "Check for Update"/"Apply Update" links at the bottom of the welcome screen.
  • Ensure you have access to the league and season. From the welcome screen hit "Leagues & Groups." Confirm that you see your league season:
    • Singles: "Emerald City Darting Organization - Singles: Spring 2021"
    • Doubles/Teams: "Emerald City Darting Organization: Spring 2021"
Devices
It is recommended that each player use two devices: one device for the DartConnect scoring app and another device for video conferencing and sharing a view of your dartboard. The two devices can be any combination of any two phones, tablets, or laptops. If you have a laptop with an external webcam or a rear-facing camera, you can accommodate both applications on that one device.

Skype
ECDO has standardized on Skype video conferencing. The Skype web, desktop, phone, and tablet apps support the tiling of video feeds so that you can view all of them simultaneously. By agreement of all players, you may instead use Facebook video messenger. This would require that all players have Facebook and are connected to each other.

If you do not have a Skype account, click the following link to create a meeting right away. You don’t have to create an account or sign up for anything—TOTALLY FREE!
If using a computer/laptop, you'll be able to create the meeting directly from the website. If using a tablet or phone, you’ll be prompted to download Skype.

https://www.skype.com/en/free-conference-call/

For singles play, DartConnect has recently launched its own video solution integrated into the scoring app. However, it is new and we recommend having Skype available as a backup.

General Online Match Play
Matches should start promptly at 7pm Pacific Time. ECDO allows a half-hour grace period to start a match, but please be considerate and communicate with all match players if you need to use this time buffer. By agreement of all players involved, a match may be rescheduled to another day/time, but please alert the Competition Secretary at compsec@seattledarts.com.

When corking, please use the "PDC Bull" rule. In PDC corking, you do not measure the distance from dart to bull. Each dart is either a double-bull, a single-bull, or a miss. Bounce-outs and non-scoring darts should be rethrown. Use the "Coin Toss" option to determine who gets to choose whether to see or to show. The current match format consists of sets each with an odd number of legs. For each set, please: (1) cork the first leg, then (2) use alternate start so that each player/team starts the same number of legs, and finally (3) cork the last leg of the set.

Corking example:
  • Player A wins the coin toss and chooses to see.
  • Round 1, Player B misses the bull.
  • Round 1, Player A misses the bull.
  • Round 1 result is a tie, so reshoot with alternating start.
  • Round 2, Player A hits a single bull.
  • Round 2, Player B misses the bull.
  • Round 2 result is that Player A wins the cork.
  • Player A chooses to start the leg and goes first.

As an alternative to corking and by agreement of both players/teams, you may use the "Random Start" option to randomly choose the player/team that starts the leg. This is advisable if both players/teams are having trouble hitting the bull.

Singles/Doubles Play, using Skype
For each match, the schedule designates one player/team as "Home" and the other player/team as "Visitor." In doubles player, each team pair should decide who is the "Captain" and who is the "Teammate." The guidelines below assume that each player is in their own location.

Home Captain (or home singles player)
  1. NOTE: In doubles, the Home Captain must enter scores for themselves and also for their Teammate.
  2. Well before the match, go to Skype and host a new meeting. This will generate a unique URL.
  3. Communicate this URL to all players involved beforehand so it is ready to go at match time.
  4. At match time, join your Skype meeting on your video conferencing device.
  5. Log in to the DartConnect app at http://app.dartconnect.com on your scoring device.
  6. Update the app to the latest version.
  7. From the welcome screen, hit "Leagues & Groups."
  8. Select the season, either "Emerald City Darting Organization - Singles: Fall 2020" for singles or "Emerald City Darting Organization: Fall 2020" for doubles.
  9. Hit "Connect" and then "Online Connect Code: Generate Code" to generate a unique match code. Give this code to the Visitor Captain.
  10. In doubles, look below for the DCTV watch code. Click to generate one if it is not already there. Give this code to your Teammate and to the Visitor Teammate.
  11. Hit "Select Players." You *must* configure the Home player/team on the left and the Visitor player/team on the right.
  12. Confirm that everyone has entered their codes successfully and that their screens show "Waiting for Game Start."
  13. Hit "Cork to Start" to start the match. Please see the Match Format section below to determine the number of legs in each set.
Visitor Captain (or visitor singles player)
  1. NOTE: In doubles, the Visitor Captain must enter scores for themselves and also for their Teammate.
  2. At match time, join the Skype meeting provided by the Home Captain on your video conferencing device.
  3. Log in to the DartConnect app at http://app.dartconnect.com on your scoring device.
  4. Update the app to the latest version.
  5. From the welcome screen, hit "Play Online" and select "Device 1: DartConnect."
  6. Hit "Join a Match" and enter the match code provided by the Home Captain. Hit "Continue."
  7. Wait for the match to start.

Home/Visitor Teammate
  1. NOTE: Your scores must be entered by your Captain. Communicate this over the video conferencing call after your round.
  2. At match time, join the Skype meeting provided by the Home Captain on your video conferencing device.
