Players,
ECDO Needs You To Serve on the Board.
Both in the North America and globally, darts is a sport on the rise. The E.C.D.O. is growing too. The E.C.D.O. needs board members with a few extra hours a month, a passion for darts and the skills to make steel tip darts as widespread as it was in the heyday of the 1980's to 1990's. In 2019, E.C.D.O. expanded to the east side adding Three Lions Redmond, JJ Mahoney’s and Rooney’s Food and Spirits. In 2020, before the pandemic, we were in the process of setting up new divisions in Pierce County as well as continuing to add venues in the core Seattle area, the east side and in south Snohomish County. In 2022 we restarted our efforts to expand our reach.
Nominate yourself or your teammates.
Please ask your teammates if they are interested in being nominated for a position on the board. Let us know if any of your players look like a good fit for any of the positions. If you or someone on your team has the desire to serve, please reply back and nominate them. We are particularly interested in recruiting people with professional accounting experience, legal experience, online and print sales and marketing experience, experience running large dart tournaments and experience running intra-mural sports leagues (particularly other dart leagues). We are also interested in players who live in the areas where we intend to expand.
The Election Process.
In October we nominate candidates to serve on the next year's ECDO board. Nominations close midnight on October 31 st. We will contact nominees during October and establish their willingness to stand for election. Nominees who stand forth will be invited to introduce themselves at the November board meeting. At that point the nominations will be officially announced and the election will be kicked off. Voting and campaigning will occur over the month of November and close on midnight on the 30th. Final results will be announced at the December Board meeting where winners will be invited as guests. Transition from departing to new members will occur during the remainder of December. Finally, the new board will take over on January 1st and will meet for the first time on the first Tuesday of January.
Background on the League.
E.C.D.O. runs leagues, ADO national qualifier programs, members-only events and nationally sanctioned dart tournaments. E.C.D.O. is run by a volunteer board and administered according to our Bylaws. Current board members are listed on our current Board Page.
Each season (roughly 3-4 months in duration) we organize two leagues. “B” league teams play on Wednesdays, “A” league teams play on Thursdays. “A” league teams are typically comprised of more skilled players than “B” league teams. If sufficient teams register to play then either or both “A” league and “B” league are further divided into divisions. League teams play at bars around the greater Seattle area, see the Participating Pub List for more details. Weekly dart matches consist of a mix of ’01 and American Cricket games. The number of games varies by league but all details are listed in our League Rules. Teams consist of 4-6 players.
In conjunction with the ADO 501 national championship, ADO cricket national championship, the Winmau World Masters and US Team selection (to represent the country in international competition), E.C.D.O. runs quarterly Advanced Singles Leagues as our ADO National Qualifier sponsorship program. So far, In 2019, 19 players won sponsorship to the 4 ADO national qualifiers with 2 players, Karim Nowbar (US Team) and Gino Cano (Winmau Masters), winning berths in the national finals.
Each winter, in February or March, the ECDO hosts the $3800 ECDO Memorial. And each summer, in August, the ECDO hosts the $3800+ Emerald City Classic. These are ADO-sanctioned nationaly ranked darts tournaments . The league is also looking for a new venue and platinum sponsor to reboot our World Darts Federation sanctioned $12000+ Northwest Steel Tip Championship.
